One day – We will conquer cancer
Thanks for all your support! Saturday’s ride from Niagara Falls to Mohawk College in Hamilton was an epic day. Opening ceremonies were very moving with Steve Bauer, Canadian Cycle medalist and a number of cancer survivors speaking on the podium beside the spray of Niagara Falls. About 800 rides left from Niagara among them 50 cancer survivors with yellow flags on their bikes. It rained for most of the day with headwinds blowing across the fields and vineyards. It was wet but spectacular. What a beautiful part of the country with its rivers and creeks descending the escarpment. As long as we kept moving we stayed warmed. We rolled into Mohawk with lots of support from the Hamilton crowd.
But Sunday we were rewarded with blue sky’s and warm weather. It was the perfect day - no head wind and moving on the bike kept us cool right until the final destination of Niagara Falls. There was a great reception as we crossed the finish line, got our photo taken by the falls and celebrated this historic ride.
We raised - no wait you, all of you raised 18 million dollars for cancer research: A record to date. Thanks so much for your generous support. Both Carol and I are proud to have such wonderful family and friends.
Some day, one day - we will Conquer Cancer and you were a part of it. All the Best!!
